Fifty-two girls

The obvious successor to the Beach Boys' California Girls:

The B-52's
52 Girls

I'm listening to side one, track two of their self-titled debut. You know you want to download it [I'm assuming you haven't got a copy of this album].

Stolen maps

Stolen from Daring Fireball:

Cargo shipping per unit area

Some of you may remember my "spatio-temporal map" that I did for some inexplicable reason last year. That was an idea I stole from a book called ROAM [I'll reference it later]. Well, this website is sort of along the same lines. It hasn't the intellectual rigour of my maps [wank], but they're interesting nonetheless. Although, my maps weren't as well researched...

It's all about stretching and squishing the world map.

Feeling California

You know what I mean. You might've seen the film I'm referencing [I haven't seen it]. Well, they're referencing a song by a band I used to adore [what was I thinking?!].

The Dandy Warhols said something about Minnesoter, but nobody knows what Minnesota really feels like.

I was listening to California Girls [I know, too obvious], but, you know, the Beach Boys, they do make you feel California [check out the scenery of this clip... this is the best one with Brian Wilson in it – you can really hear him and appreciate his contribution to the band, as opposed to the clips of the crap eighties reformation with Mike Love... don't get me started on Kokomo].

It's probably an album-wide thing with Pavement's Crooked Rain Crooked Rain [this song is a good example... I've always loved country music].

I'm struggling to come up with a coherent idea, so I'll just shove in another YouTube example – Sweet Fucking Child O' Mine.

Yes, that was a good one. Are you feeling it?

This is the extent of my knowledge of the 'music from the streets'. How cute is Ice Cube!
